According to a study published by the journal Earth and Planetary Science Letters, the earthquake would have a minimum magnitude of 8.3 degrees on the Richter scale with its epicenter in the city of Valparaiso.
The work is based on an analysis of the 8.4 earthquake that had as its epicenter the Chilean town of Illapel on September 16, 2015, where they discovered a pattern: tremors of great intensity in the central area occur in a period of 60 to 80 years.
