"In the generality of production we are very well, in more than 95 percent of the products we consume is national (...). This year we are going to reach about 18 million tons of food production", explained Cocarico in an interview with state media.
He highlighted that between 2006 and 2016 food production increased substantially from 7 million to more than 14.7 million tons, due to the policies that the Government implemented in the last 11 years in favor of the country's productive sector.
He also said that since 2006 the irrigated hectares increased from 226,000 to 416,000 hectares.
During the celebration of the Day of the Agrarian Revolution, on August 2, the results of support for agricultural production were presented, such as certified seed work, which in 11 years increased to 923,000 tons.
Bolivia is a self-sufficient country in food production, because in 11 years potato production increased from 8,016 to 1 million tons; of onion from 50,000 to 80,000 tons; and tomato from 43,000 to 61,000 tons.
