Photographer Preeti Desai was the one who shared this rarity on Twitter and prompted biologists in the tweet community to respond to the phenomenon.
The creature was in the middle of a Texas beach in a state of decomposition. The dead animal apparently has no eyes, but has a large mouth full of sharp teeth.
The news and photo of the find soon reached the specialist biologist Kennet Tigue, who believes that it is an eel with fangs or "stiff teeth."
He said it could also be a conger eel or a garden eel, since "these three species occur outside of Texas and have large fanged teeth," generally living in the western Atlantic Ocean, 30 to 90 meters deep.
