They say that love is the only feeling that justifies life on planet Earth. Each person expresses it or silences it voluntarily. Some get excited by looking at coral reefs, prehistoric caves, Appalachian Mountains, Siberian lakes, Quaternary dunes, marshy wetlands, and metamorphic rocks.
While others are unable to appreciate the celestial beauty that floods every blessed corner of the Pachamama, either due to a lot of ignorance, stubbornness or conformism by not wanting to learn a little more about the secrets of Gaia.
For example, the oceans cover 70% of the Earth's surface.
The hummingbird's heart beats more than 1,000 times per minute. Earth is the only planet in the solar system with active tectonic plates, which help prevent overheating, and it is also the only planet that presents water in all three states of matter (solid, liquid and gas).
The magnetic field of our planet acts as a protective shield against excessive solar radiation. Without realizing it, we are traveling around the Sun at an average speed of 29.5 kilometers per second. Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world with a height of 8,848 meters above sea level.
Every day about 100 tons of space dust falls on the surface of planet Earth, whose age is estimated to be 4.5 billion years.
90% of volcanic activity occurs on the enigmatic seabed.
A sidereal day does not reach 24 hours, since the precise time is 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds, due to the rotational and translational movement created by the eccentricity of the Earth's orbit.
You do not have to travel to Table Mountain, the Iguazu Falls, the Amazon Rainforest, the cenotes of the Yucatan Peninsula, the Angel Falls, the Humahuaca ravine, the Providencia Island, or the Geysers of El Tatio or the ancient Machu Picchu, to corroborate that the hands of Mother Earth enchanted each natural landscape with love, demonstrating the perfection of her magical divine creation.
All you have to do is open your eyes and look closely around you, to be fascinated by the clouds of a blue sky, with the leaves of a green tree, with the wings of a brave redeemer bird, with the wave of wind that enlivens the twilight soul, with a shower of stars that shines in the dark sky, with a Sun that shines in the distant horizon and with a Moon that soothes the wounds of the past.
It is obvious that the Earth is our sacred refuge of life, which would be the envy of any other extraterrestrial civilization that dares to visit us.
It does not matter that you fly at dawn on the galactic paths of Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus or Neptune.
Wherever you go, you will be surprised to appreciate that the Earth is the only planet with the ideal conditions for human life to develop naturally, without resorting to very expensive spacesuits, robotic machines with artificial intelligence, spacecraft with ionic propulsion system, to satellites with infrared technology or to elaborate interplanetary probes.
Here on Earth we can vacation naked on the beach, wear an elegant tuxedo in the theater or wear a traditional liquilique at the patronal fair, without thinking about the negative effects of gravity, in the abrasive degrees of Celsius temperature, in the absence of the purified oxygen or in the chaotic Martian atmosphere.
Quite a privilege for the fortunate men and women who live together on our planet, despite the fact that most of these individuals are not aware of the fortuitous miracle that their eyes visualize daily.
Questions arise: Why don't we live in holy peace with all the earthly brothers?
Why is planet Earth plagued with wars, injustices and ecocides? Who are to blame for the enormous environmental damage caused in the world?
It is not easy to find an unquestionable answer to the ecological conflict presented, since we must evaluate the intervention of the transnationals that profit from foreign resources, the corruption of the governments in power that authorize these illegal practices, and the classic indifference of the people who they do not report crimes committed in the geography of their countries.
Love must be demonstrated with tangible facts, not with words that end up in the abyss of nowhere.
Our planet Earth is suffocating in a holocaust that preys on the biophysical environment that we harbor, by the constant pollution that violates the quality of the air, by the poison of transgenic crops, by the devouring trawling, by the aggressive deforestation, by the profitable hydraulic fracture, by the extractive illegal mining, by the expansion of the agricultural frontier, by the vice of drug trafficking and by the lucrative trade in exotic fauna.
Let's not forget that 2014 was the hottest year in the recent history of planet Earth, emphasizing the media tragedy of Global Warming, Climate Change and the Greenhouse Effect.
Polar bears no longer rest easy in their winter paradises, because they are afraid that the Arctic ice will continue to melt by leaps and bounds, thanks to the more than 35,000 million tons of CO2 released by power plants in the world, so that the cold of yesteryear turns into oil, gas and coal hell.
Did you know that it takes more than 7,000 liters of water to produce a tasty beef steak?
The cooking oil that we throw down the drain after preparing food contaminates the bodies of fresh and salt water in our towns. More than 800 neurotoxic chemicals are used in the manufacture of cosmetics and perfumes.
Two thirds of the world's population will suffer from a water shortage in 2025. 10 drops of water per minute represent 2000 liters of water wasted per year. An incandescent light bulb that is turned on for 5 hours a day for a month is equivalent to 15,000 watts of electrical saturation.
It is important to know that we Latin Americans are producing almost 1 kilo of garbage every day, due to the consumer culture that takes hold of the enslaved neighbor. 90% of the garbage that remains in the oceans derives from plastic.
75% of animal species could become extinct in the next 300 years. 17 trees are used to make one ton of paper. Each year more than 14 million hectares of native forests are cleared.
About 70% of the heavy metals that end up in garbage dumps come from the accumulation of electronic devices that release chemicals dangerous to health, such as mercury, lead, chromium, cadmium and cobalt.
It is estimated that by 2030 electronic scrap will have grown by 50% on a global scale, and the worst thing is that the negative trend will continue to increase due to the excessive use of mobile devices, such as cell phones, tablet PCs and laptops.
The UN described the issue of electronic waste as "an ecological bomb" for planet Earth, considering the 50 million tons of electronic waste that are generated annually in the world.
The lack of public policies that effectively manage the pitfall of hazardous waste, the devaluation of urban mining to curb environmental debauchery, and the high demand for goods and services that forces the burning of more fossil fuels, are responsible for bursting stability of the globe.
We see that Cupid's arrows are nailed into the broken heart of Pachamama, who cries with tears of blood for the lack of love on planet Earth. They say that nobody knows what they have until they lose it.
Yesterday we gave her the best roses in the spring garden, and today we mistreat her with the worst thorns in the radioactive swamp.
She does not lose hope that Humanity will regain the light of wisdom, but we are too stubborn to admit our mistakes and ask her forgiveness on our knees.
However, environmental deterioration can be placated by each of us, as long as we remember the audacity of the first kiss, to rescue the affection, concern and interest in reducing the ecological abuses that are glimpsed on planet Earth.
Conservationism is the key to change the passive attitude for concrete actions in favor of the Environment, which transforms us into true agents of change within the localities we inhabit.
Let's reduce the consumption of drinking water, repairing the leaks in the pipes of the home, and not wasting the vital liquid when brushing our teeth, when taking a shower or when cleaning the house. In turn, it is essential to exercise Energy Efficiency, turning off any electrical or electronic equipment that is turned on unnecessarily, such as the television, stove, air conditioning, computer, smartphone charger, DVD player, console video game machine, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, hair dryer, microwave, etc.
In the same way, it is not correct to waste sheets of paper when using the printer or copier, since not all the informational content that we have at our disposal must be reproduced with the ink of the physical format.
As for the domestic garbage that accumulates in homes and offices, it is very valuable to comply with the rule of 3rs (reduce, reuse and recycle).
It is time to separate solid waste from the source and classify the organic and inorganic materials that we use every day (plastic, glass, metal, cardboard, paper).
If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem, so the ecological mission requires that we separate PET bottles, caps, pizza boxes, multipurpose containers, expanded polystyrene sheets, supermarket bags, soda cans, candy wrappers, scratched compact discs, chopsticks, alkaline batteries, old newspapers, fruit peels, and other debris that should never end up clumped into the generic trash container.
Although the urban cleaning compactor truck will take care of mixing all the waste and taking it to the harmful landfills.
We can avoid this vicious circle against the environment, through an endogenous development model originated in our communities.
If the inhabitants organize themselves with their neighbors, friends, family and work colleagues, they can collect the previously classified garbage and arrange a specific day of the week to transport it to a recycling center that works in that locality. There, these waste will be received, and we will promote the habit of recycling everything we consume.
In parallel, a large number of articles of daily use can be reused through creative crafts, which turn them into nice ornaments to give to a loved one on a special date, to entertain children healthily or as an alternative source of income.
Among flowerpots, lamps, purses, key chains, cup holders, necklaces, garlands, baskets, coat racks, toys, invitation cards, piggy banks, chandeliers and bracelets, it is clear that with a little imagination we will be able to build even a building made with materials. recycled.
Use the soles of your feet more, and the car horn less.
The noisy traffic in cities is the result of a lifestyle 100% dependent on the accelerator, traffic lights and tantrums.
On planet Earth there are more than 1,100 million cars that not only cause more environmental pollution, but also cause nervous breakdowns, a feeling of claustrophobia and fainting in people. Let's learn to walk barefoot, to enjoy the silence and to practice hiking, seen as a recreational activity that reconnects us with the Environment, with Culture and with Sport.
If the Universe gave us a little corner of happiness called planet Earth, we should not hurt ourselves by smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol or taking drugs, which sooner or later open the door to disease, depression and suicide.
We all go through difficult situations in life, but escaping reality by drowning in those vices will never be the solution to the problem.
On the contrary, let's use the time positively for the sake of achieving better mental health, whether reading a good book, listening to relaxing music, adopting a pet or talking with grandparents.
We do not want love for Nature to continue to be a biodegradable issue for civil society. Taking on the ecological task requires a joint effort free of colors, ideologies or creeds. Let us reject the bills of selfishness, and value a life teaching.
Romanticism should not be born, grow up and die on April 22, February 14 or June 5, because planet Earth deserves that every day you commit to respect, care for and love it.
