Sodium bicarbonate is used as an antacid, to reduce excess acidity in certain parts of the human body. So, it works by neutralizing the excess acid that accumulates in the stomach.
It can also be used as an antiseptic to treat small mouth ulcers and mild sore throats by performing mouthwashes or gargles.
